Year 10’s Journey into Global Citizenship

Year 10’s Journey into Global Citizenship

Inspiring Changemakers

Year 10 students took a deep dive into the world of community engagement at our first-ever Global Citizenship Changemakers Mini-Conference—an event designed to empower students to take action and make a difference.

Led by Caroline Ferguson, Leader of Global Citizenship and Student Community Engagement, the conference focused on what it truly means to be a global citizen:
Informed and Critically Literate
Socially Connected and Respectful of Diversity
Ethically Responsible and Actively Engaged

With an emphasis on ethical responsibility and meaningful action, the event featured inspiring guest speakers from ICare Thailand Foundation and Christian Care Foundation for Children with Disabilities (CCD). Their stories of dedication and service set the stage for an afternoon of thought-provoking discussions and hands-on learning.

Students had the opportunity to participate in one of nine engaging, student-led workshops, designed and run by passionate student leaders from Years 8 to 12. Representing various Secondary Community Engagement Teams, these workshops showcased the incredible work being done by:
Ourland, Habitat for Humanity, Pataroma, Amnesty, WeHearU, For the Blind, Interact, YOU-th and Thomas House.

The energy in the room was electric as students explored ways to turn ideas into action, learning from their peers about real-world service projects and the power of collective impact.
