Year 4 Explore Sound

Year 4 students are asking and answering the question “What is Sound?” They created a sound mind map to explore the many questions they had. Then, they created experiments to try and answer those questions. Questions included, “How many sounds are there in the world?” and “Can I hear a lot of different sounds?”

Teachers worked with them online to find ways to experiment to answer their questions, using props available at home. Year 4 are also learning the importance of the scientific method in their research; make an observation that describes a problem, then create a hypothesis and test the hypothesis. Finally, they draw conclusions and refine the hypothesis for their mind map.
