Amanda Fielding, English Faculty

Welcome Amanda Fielding, Secondary English Teacher

Amanda Fielding’s passion for teaching comes from that ‘wow’ moment when a student finally grasps a concept that she is working with them on. “When it clicks, you can just see that light in their eyes!” Although it is still early in Term 1, she has already experienced this moment in her classroom and noted that her students really have a desire to learn and to do well.

Amanda Fielding grew up living between the UK, Germany and the Dominican Republic, as her father was in the Army. After completing her degree in the UK, she taught EAL in Lopburi, Thailand, then returned to the UK once again to complete her PGCE and taught locally for the next five years. Amanda then moved with her husband to Penang, Malaysia, where she spent the last two years teaching, though most of that time was online! Having heard that Bangkok Patana is “one of the best schools you’ll ever step foot in”, Amanda was excited for the job opportunity as a Secondary English Teacher and said that since being here, everything has surpassed her expectations.

Throughout her first year at Bangkok Patana, Amanda is looking forward to participating in clubs and activities, such as the climbing wall, and integrating into the community. Amanda enjoys traveling, reading, hiking and being out in nature. Having lived in Thailand before, Amanda is excited to be enjoying the food once again, as well as walking through the markets and trying her hand at cooking a range of new dishes.
