Melanie Flanagan, Year 6 Teacher

Welcome Melanie Flanagan, Year 6 Teacher

Melanie Flanagan is from the north of England, where she completed her BA in Educational Studies with a specialism in Art. She taught in Sheffield and then in Hong Kong for nine years. After a sabbatical as a volunteer teacher in South America and two years of teaching in Egypt, Melanie felt pulled back to Asia. She looked to Bangkok Patana as the school aligns with her belief that education in a non-profit setting is very important in the international environment.

Melanie loves the fun and energy that her Year 6 students bring to the classroom each day and enjoys watching their creative process as they work through problems, both academic and otherwise. She further hopes to help her students build the skills they need to express themselves artistically through a wide range of media. Melanie is looking forward to participating in Residential Trips during her first year on campus and exploring more opportunities for professional development. Outside of the classroom, she spends her time crafting, painting, knitting, hiking and dancing. On the school breaks, look out for Melanie in a sea-side location, as she loves relaxing on the beach, likely with a book in hand!
