Celebrating the Stories of Roald Dahl!

From Matilda to James and the Giant Peach, Willy Wonka and the BFG!

Earlier this week, Year 3 celebrated author Roald Dahl and the magic of children’s stories by dressing up as their favourite characters from his beloved books. As this term’s driving question is “what makes a good children’s story”, one factor that many students have identified is the importance of engaging characters. All stories need characters that are scary, kind, funny, brave – characters who truly represent the multiplicity of people in our world!

Many different Roald Dahl characters were on display, from the horrible old Twits to the evil witches, enormous crocodiles, fantastic foxes, giant peaches and even a few golden tickets! Year 3 enjoyed exploring the variety of characters, as well as participating in different activities linked to Roald Dahl’s stories. A particular favourite was practicing cookery skills to create the horrible Mr Twit “beard cakes” – yum!
