Head of School’s Update 21st July 2021

I do hope our school community is managing to experience some joy over the summer holidays as we continue to be challenged by this hugely, impactful global pandemic.
We are communicating to let you know the school’s plans at this early stage.
Bangkok Patana School generally does not alter its agreed annual school calendar as it can be very unsettling and can have a negative impact on learning. We don’t intend to make any changes to the 18th August Term 1 start date.
Looking at the current number of positive COVID-19 cases in Bangkok, it seems more and more likely that students will be accessing their learning through our CSL (Continuing Student Learning) home learning platform for the start of the school year. We will be closely liaising with all of the government authorities to get support and approval, as we hope to get students back on campus at some stage during Term 1. Online support would continue during this period for those not able to attend in person.
You will also be fully aware that Bangkok Patana School continues to fine-tune our CSL platform, with a view to both social-emotional well-being and academic progress.
A friendly reminder that if any family members test positive for COVID-19, to please inform our Head Nurse Khun Patama, firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible. Nurse Patama oversees all of our community cases and gives support where she can.
I intend sending you another update on our school reopening arrangements in early August. A warm welcome to our new families joining Bangkok Patana – we will send you a detailed introduction to our CSL platform as part of your induction programme. We are all very much hoping that the government’s latest strict lockdown restrictions will see a rapid decline of positive COVID-19 cases in Thailand over the coming weeks.
We are delighted with our latest IB results that came through over summer celebrating a 38 average point score, the school’s highest ever! We’re also excited to have two Patana alumni competing in the Tokyo Olympics!
Enjoy the rest of your summer.
