Inspire Inclusion on International Women’s Day
As the world celebrated International Women’s Day, our Year 13 IB French Ab-initio students took to the opportunity to describe and discuss life-changing events for women in France.
As the world celebrated International Women’s Day, our Year 13 IB French Ab-initio students took to the opportunity to describe and discuss life-changing events for women in France.
“On the 4th of March 2024, the French parliament voted for the inscription of a woman’s right to an abortion in the Constitution. This historical moment became a beacon of discussion in our ab-initio French class, allowing us to broaden our vocabulary and deepen our understanding of French cultural knowledge that we could possibly use in our upcoming exam. We were able to infer ideas from a photograph and develop our personal writing skills in the process.
Timed with International Women’s Day, this established constitutional right serves as a symbol of hope on a global scale for women rights and gender equality everywhere. With France being the first country to make this step forward, as women, we felt proud to be able to witness history before our eyes and be provided with an opportunity to speak and examine it within the rest of the class.”- Natalie James 13S, Erin Richards 13K.
