Parents Electronic Workshop
Primary parents were invited to a workshop on navigating the use of electronic devices at home.
We can all acknowledge that electronic devices within the home create challenges for all sorts of reasons. Parents are often looking for a magical formula such as the number hours children should or should not be on devices.
A workshop held by the Primary counsellors looked at ways to help understand and mitigate some of these challenges. The workshop looked at the emotional responses children have to these devices and at helping parents to understand their own emotional responses to difficult situations that arise around the use of devices. The workshop leaders talked about ways parents could build deeper relationships with their children and how to regulate emotions. It was a fascinating workshop with participants taking away lots of practical things to try at home.
