Patana Pathways – Kirsten Winyard

Patana Pathways – Kirsten Winyard

Join us in celebrating Grad’23 Patana Pathways!

“I was the only person in my Year group who elected to write the Extended Essay on Mathematics, specifically the topic of algebraic and constructible numbers.” Kirsten Winyard will study Mathematics, Statistics and Data Science at the University of Bath, and is looking forward to reconnecting with her culture and pursuing her love for mathematics. “Data Science is a field that is rapidly advancing. The diverse and creative ways that maths can be applied to Data Science is something very appealing to me.” Expressing her passion for engaging with more abstract content and theories, Kirsten is excited to further explore concepts like big data, machine and deep learning and cloud architecture.

In her fourteen years at Bangkok Patana, Kirsten’s favourite memory was International Day 2022 as it was her last chance to dress up in the traditional Thai dress and walk in the parade with her Year 13 peers. This was a particularly special memory as she also led the Thai group, carrying the Thai flag. Kirsten’s proudest achievement was receiving the Foundation Board Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement after having achieved the highest possible scores on her (I)GCSE exams. Balancing her academic workload, Kirsten took to sports to benefit her mental and physical well-being; she has played on several Varsity teams, including Softball, Basketball, Climbing and Track & Field.

“I think the most valuable thing I’ve discovered after enjoying so many years at Bangkok Patana is the relationships I’ve developed with my friends and my teachers. I will really miss the welcoming haven of Senior Studies and our solidarity in the struggle of Completion Week.” As she begins her Patana Pathway, we have confidence that Kirsten will meet even more amazing peers at the University of Bath. Congratulations, Kirsten!
