Sofie de Jonge, EAL Teacher Year 2
Welcome Sofie de Jonge, Primary EAL Teacher, Year 2
Sofie de Jonge was born in the US but has spent most of her life in Belgium. An international school student herself, Sofie attended school in Poland, followed by the UK and The Netherlands. Following her TESOL course and subsequent PGCE and MA teaching qualifications, Sofie taught in various international schools in Bangkok and public schools in the US. Sofie said that these experiences were all very different, proving to be valuable in many ways to her development as a teacher. Excited to join Bangkok Patana’s community, Sofie’s passion as an EAL teacher is to support her students and to make a positive impact on their learning. Sofie’s favourite thing about teaching is that she is doing something purposeful by helping young students to shape their futures and contributing to our shared society.
Throughout her first year at Bangkok Patana, Sofie is looking forward to contributing to the school’s community through participation in extra-curricular activities (ECAs) and other events on campus. She enjoys running, hiking, tennis and volleyball, as well as reading, learning, travelling and spending time with her son, George, who is now just over one year old! George is being raised trilingual (Dutch, Thai and English), and will be starting in Foundation Stage, Nursery next year. On the school breaks, you may just catch Sofie in Pran Buri or Koh Samui, a couple of her favourite places in Thailand.
