Virtual Thai Author Visit in Year 10

Virtual Thai Author Visit in Year 10

Meet the author of The Happiness of Kati with our Year 10 students!

Students in Year 10 Thai Language and Literature had the opportunity to meet virtually with Thai author Khun Ngampun Vejjajiva, a S.E.A. WRITE Award winner and the author of The Happiness of Kati. Khun Ngampun also wrote the official translation of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire! In preparation for their virtual visit, Year 10 students read The Happiness of Kati, which is about a young Thai girl mourning the loss of her mother. The main character, Kati, lives in a small Thai village on the banks of the Chao Phraya River with her grandparents. The Happiness of Kati has been published and re-printed 114 times and was made into a movie in 2009. Khun Ngampun’s book has also been translated into English, German, Japanese, French and Catalan.

A big thank you to Khun Ngampun for inspiring our students to pursue studies in Thai Language and Literature!
