Year 3 Create Simple Machines

Year 3 Create Simple Machines

Students in Year 3 are creating simple machines at home.

Working from home has offered Year 3 students fertile ground for their imaginations as they created Rube Goldberg machines. After learning about Rube Goldberg machines students began to prepare their own. They collected everyday household items and toys to create a machine to do a simple task. Their machine needed to have at least three simple processes to complete a simple task, such as ringing a bell or popping a balloon.

First, they sketched designs, then determined the items they needed. Finally, they built their machines and tested their designs before sharing it with their teachers. Making these types of machines takes great creativity and perseverance. It is so exciting when they finally work!
