Year 5 have been hard at work learning how to colonise Mars!
Students in Year 5 asked “How can we create a successful Mars colony?”
They started by thinking about what ‘colony’ means and what makes up a colony. From there, they discussed what humans need to survive and thrive. The students split the project into three sections: shelter, transport and a spacesuit. Then, they researched Mars and previous missions to space to come up with designs from spacesuits to rovers, rockets to shelter. You can follow their creation of moon buggies here. Finally, they presented their projects using Minecraft creating some great videos showcasing their shelters and colonies. Check out the videos in the Year 5 Extended Learning Blog here.
