Year 7 Tackles Bullying in Drama

Year 7 Tackles Bullying in Drama

Year 7 look at bullying from different perspectives in drama.

Drama students in Year 7 have been studying a play that looks at issues of gang mentality and bullying.  Their challenge for the end of this term is to step into the shoes of one of the characters from the play ‘The Terrible Fate of Humpty Dumpty’. They will then perform a monologue from the perspective of that character. Not only does this help students see an issue from many points of view but it also teaches them how to empathise with different people in a complex situation. Additionally, it is also a great personal challenge for the students to have the self-confidence to stand up in front of the class and perform.  Everyone learns the value of encouragement and support.
